Ann's Almond Bars

I made these delicious little bars to go with the other holiday desserts I recently had to make. I like the strong almond flavor of the bars - a good break from the regular chocolate treats. Be sure to cut these little guys small, they are very rich!

Almond Bars

Bottom Layer:
1 cup butter
2 cups flour
1/2 cup powdered sugar
Combine and pat into 9x13 pan. Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes.

Middle Layer:
1 (8 oz) cream cheese
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp almond extract
2 eggs
Combine and beat well. Pour over the baked crust. Bake 15-20 minutes. Cool completely.

Top layer:
1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/4 cup butter
1 1/2 tablespoon milk
1 tsp almond extract
1/4 cup sliced almonds
Mix together and spread over cooled bars. Then sprinkle with sliced almonds.
