Halloween Snack

Since Caroline and I like a good theme, I thought it would be fun to make some Halloween treats to go to Pre-K.  I saw these on Pinterest and thought they might also be easy for a very helpful four year old.  Was I right!  It was just the right number of steps for my kitchen helper. 

First we counted the number of cookies that came in the package.  You could use fudge-striped cookies upside down, but I couldn't find them at Target, so opted for Oreo Fudge Creme cookies instead.  Then we counted out the same number of Hershey Kisses.  And then unwrapped them. 

Then after a reminder of what not to do with frosting, lick our fingers, we put a dab of frosting on the bottom of the kiss and then pressed it in the middle of the cookie. 

 And voila Witch Hat cookies!

I'll get you my pretty...

After seeing The Wizard of Oz over the summer, Caroline has been wanting to be a witch for Halloween. Not just any witch, mind you, a 'BAAAADDDD witch'.

I think it was a success!

I can't believe that it's already the end of October. Seriously, where did the month go? Here's one more fun activity that Caroline and I did to celebrate Halloween. Caroline was almost to young to do this snack/dessert. She lasted a couple of Nutterbutter cookie dips. She enjoyed putting the slivered almond "toenails" on the cookies. I bet you can't tell the ones that she took creative liberties with!

Witch Feet/Goblin Feet

1 package Nutterbutters

1 package green candy melts

1/2 package slivered almonds

Melt candy melts. Dip cookies in and lay on waxed paper. Put almonds on cookies to resemble finger/toe nails. Let dry and enjoy!

The Itsy Bitsy Spider

To gear up for Halloween, Caroline and I did some fun crafts and projects. Among them, was creating spiders from egg cartons.

Caroline loved that it took many steps...painting, gluing on eyes, and poking pipe cleaners to create such a fun spider.

Trick or Treat!

Caroline had a couple busy days last week. On Friday, her daycare had 'orange and black' day with a cookie and juice party for the parents. It was fun seeing her interact with her friends! They are so cute together!


Then on Saturday she was able to go trick or treating. We only went to a few places, but she did so well keeping her Snow White costume on. It really helped to have her see a photo of my sister wearing her Snow White costume (she dressed up for Halloween too). But getting a decent photo of Caroline dressed up was another story...way too busy!

Sneak Peak

I thought you'd enjoy a quick sneak peak of Caroline's Halloween costume. I thought she'd be a bee...but she didn't like that costume. Then a couple of weeks ago we went to Target where we couldn't find anything she liked either. But then my parents took her back to Target and Caroline fell in love with the Snow White costume. She is convinced that Aunt Beck (my sister) is Snow White. So to Caroline, she's going to be Aunt Beck for Halloween. It's so cute when she puts the dress on!
